Great Stove

Submitted by Casey - 9/7/2017

After using this range for a couple of weeks, I love the downdraft. It does not pull the flame like other down-draft ranges. The different BTU burners are flexible for different cooking. It is easy to clean. I've baked in the oven and it is consistent and easy to use.

Great Customer Service & So Far Love the Range

Submitted by Tom - 8/23/2017

In my opinion, professional installation is a must on a downdraft. This range replaced a 25 yr old Jenn Aire that I was milking it because I loved the grill feature. They no longer make the grill range so I went with this one and so far, I'm impressed, Had a small problem with gas grate as it was a little warped when it arrived. Called customer service and had a new one in 4 days! Wow! Range is easy to use and the convection oven saves time. Just need to use a grill plate or grill pan to get the same results of the previous grill function that I thought I would miss. Easier to clean that way too!

Submitted by Sarah - 7/27/2017

Bought this oven/stove solely for the downdraft feature but cannot use the downdraft because it blows the flame out on my stove every time I try. Also, can only cook on low setting because anything higher burns everything.

Super nice, but quite expen$ive; install is an issue too

Submitted by jandtflowers - 7/18/2017

First, let's address the elephant in the room: If you're looking at this model oven, it's because you need a built-in downdraft (either you are putting it in a stand-alone island or a kitchen without a range hood). Apparently, years ago several manufacturers made a downdraft slide-in range/oven, but today only Kitchenaid (and their even more expensive cousin Jenn-Air) makes such a thing. So, this is probably your only option short of installing a range hood, which in our case was not feasible. So about that price: yes, over 3 grand for an oven is rough, but in our case this oven's downdraft feature saved our entire kitchen remodel. So we knew what we had to get, found an online 10% coupon to save another $300 bucks, and made the purchase. Now, as for the oven itself, it looks amazing, functions very well, and we cannot recommend it enough. Just be aware that unless you are replacing a downdraft range, there almost certainly WILL be modifications that you will have to make. And by modifications, I mean drilling a hole directly through the bottom of your kitchen floor. The built-in downdraft motor on this unit sits under the oven, and only vents out through the back and bottom. There is no option to have the draft unit vent on either side, only out of the back. So be prepared that most "big-box" retailer Installation packages will NOT include this additional modification in the cost. You will probably be better off finding a local kitchen contractor to perform the install rather than buying the installation package from your retailer. In our experience, that was definitely the case. So long story short, the only reason I did not give Five stars was because of the price. Everything else about this range is top notch, from the looks and appearance, the function of the downdraft, the different sizes of the burners, and the convection functions of the oven. All in a unit that just looks flat-out awesome. Highly recommend this unit.

Great choice

Submitted by grandmaD - 7/14/2017

We have had for about a month. I love the duel fuel stove. This brand was my only choice in a duel fuel downdraft stove but I like it better than my jennair. I miss the meat probe and would like to have had that feature. It's a lot of work to keep the top clean since you have to take all the grates off but I prefer to keep it looking new so make the effort after each use. I haven't used the oven steam feature and would like to have had directions and or recipes for that feature.

Nice looking stove

Submitted by Dee - 7/11/2017

This was replacement for 21 yr old Jenaire. After having to redo gas line, electric box, cut island and modify opening for down draft it looks and works really well. Only cons are like other reviews the downdraft fan blows out flame on low and draws flames toward center on other settings. Also don't like the way you have to clean oven but seems like most have the same features for self cleaning. I don't see how boiling water and cleaning out by hand can even be called self cleaning. Haven't tried it yet but with back problems and age I'm not looking forward to it. If you need downdraft you don't have many options.

Nice Range, Pros and Cons, Way over-priced

Submitted by Consumer 1 - 4/17/2017

I returned the electric version of this range which I would've given 0 stars if possible. The gas version is much better at least from the cook top perspective. Heats up quickly, much more consistent temperatures than the electric version. Its also 10X easier to clean than the electric cooktop. The oven is still extremely slow to preheat, more than 20 minutes to reach 400 degrees. The downdraft works well although I do understand the comments made by others that, when the flame is on low, they downdraft is so strong that it sucks it towards the vent which creates uneven heat on the pot/pan. The overall appearance is very nice and seems high end. From a quality of materials standpoint I dont see much of a difference between this range and one 1/3rd of its cost. Overall im satisfied with the range, just feel like its way over-priced.

I bought the 30-Inch 4-Burner Dual Fuel Downdraft Slide-In Range and after a year almost to the day the oven malfunctioned. I do not have a certified Kitchenaide repair center near me and there are no repair places who will deal with Kitchenaide because they cannot get paid for their work. I have been ovenless for 3 months. Do not buy from Kitchenaide unless you live next door to a certified repair center.

Great design with dual fuel benefits.

Submitted by Bill - 3/26/2017

I love the look of our new downdraft slide-in stove and particularly like having the great benefit of a gas cook top and the consistent temperature of an electric oven. The downdraft system was necessary since we created an island around our stove and lost the overhead cabinets and exhaust hood. We did find however, that even on high, the downdraft was only capable of pulling approx. 20% of the visible steam (see photos) coming from a 4-1/2" tall pot of boiling liquid. Consequently, most of the steam and smell of cooking food was staying in the kitchen. I did a little experimenting and fabricated an exhaust extension which raised the height of the exhaust opening and redirected the pull of air toward the pot. Considerably more of the steam was now being exhausted. A vertical telescoping exhaust extension (manual or motor driven) capable of being positioned slightly higher than the cooking pot being used, would be an effective addition to the exhaust system. Just a thought. Bill McKay

I've only used this stove a couple of weeks but am very pleased. Replaced a JennAir downdraft stove because there were no parts available to fix it. The burners get really hot just have to adjust how high to set the temp. Takes a while to preheat the oven but I can handle that.

Great Product

Submitted by Diana - 3/13/2017

I just gutted and remodeled my kitchen and started off making a mistake. For all reading this - if you want a drop-in range in an island, then you have two choices - Jenn Air or Kitchen Aid. They are really the only two with a downdraft system. I tried another brand with the hope of installing my own backdraft system - big mistake. I found the Kitchen Aid to be the best - good downdraft, easy to clean, great oven with convection heating, and uses both electric (oven) and gas (stove top). I have absolutely no complaints.

I bought this oven 2 months ago and it has lived up to all expectations. I love the conversion of regular temps to convection temps - and its accurate! It does seem to take longer to get up to temperature but that is a minor inconvenience. As for the cook top, it is very powerful and provides all the needs anyone could want short of a restauranteur. The overall appearance is beautiful and easy to keep clean.

Great appliance

Submitted by Woggie - 2/11/2017

The only reason that I didn't give this all five stars is because of the difficulty in installation. I was hoping that this unit would fit in the same space as my old Jenn Aire downdraft. Unfortunately, it did not and the new cabinetry had to be rearranged to accommodate the new unit so that I could use the existing plenum system. Also, the old Jenn Aire system used a 6" exhaust whereas the new KitchenAid uses a 5" that has to be phased into the 6" system under the floor. Seems they could have stayed with the old system. That being said, I am very happy with the performance and appearance of my new purchase.

Love my gas cook top

Submitted by popjake - 1/13/2017

Having used an electric stove top for over 40 years, it was such a pleasure to get back to gas. The fact that the oven is electric made my wife very happy.

Frosting on the kitchen remodel

Submitted by Charlie - 1/13/2017

Worth every penny. She wanted open so walls and chimney came down so wood/ gas stove had to go too. The draw down feature of this unit topped off the remodel of our 1873 farm house. It's going to take some studying to take advantage of all the feature.

Satisfied customer

I bought this approximately one month ago to replace an all electric stove. I wanted to convert to a gas cooktop and this model was the perfect replacement.

Made the remodel!

The entire success of the kitchen remodel hinged on successfuly removing two walls and opening up the area. The success of that effort hinged on a draw down oven/stove and no obstructing good. The Kitcheaid fit the bill perfectly. Leave the installation to a professional. Not a "handy man" install. Even my HVAC guy wanted no part of it.
